Ye Qingtang raised her eyebrow slightly.
If she remembered correctly, rumor had it that Si Bai’s debility and his mother’s death were both a dire consequence of the Ye household’s conspiracy.
Why did that lad still have the heart to smile at her?

In fact, that rumor was true.

Si Bai’s mother was indeed poisoned at the hands of the Ye household, but that had nothing to do with Ye Ling, the current head of the household.
The Great Elder was the sole mastermind behind everything instead.

In the past, Ye Qingtang only found out about this while she was escaping.

Then and now, this was the first time that Ye Qingtang ever met Si Bai, and like in those rumors, this dashing young man, though blessed with a handsome face, had an exceedingly pallid complexion.

Ye Qingtang snapped her gaze towards the seated old gentleman, who bore an intimidating countenance.

“Ye Qingtang sends her greetings, Grandpa Si.”

Old Master Si snorted contemptuously, regardless of the girl’s amicable and elegant demeanor, he found no solace from his hatred towards members of the Ye household.

“I’m not your grandfather and I’ll prefer not to be addressed as such.
Ye Qingtang, you mentioned you know a way to save San-er?”

“Yes, Master Si.” Ye Qingtang chuckled at heart and was unperturbed by Old Master Si’s denunciation.

Too bad the Great Elder was a member of the Ye household, thus it was inevitable for her to be implicated.

Old Master Si squinted at Ye Qingtang with disdainful eyes, “Ye Qingtang, I care not for your position as a lady of the Ye household.
In regards to your insolence for strutting through my door with that empty blustering, you know about the consequences, don’t you?”

Ye Qingtang obviously noticed Old Master Si’s animosity, however, she did not take it to heart.
She smiled and said: “Since I’ve dared to show up, of course, I’ve confidence in myself.
Master Si, you haven’t even heard what I’ve to say, but yet, you accused me of being deceitful, aren’t you jumping to conclusions?”

“Jumping to conclusions?” Old Master Si sneered, “We had consulted prestigious physicians from all around the world, yet I had never heard of any incredulous medical achievements by your Ye household.
You are not even sixteen, and you expect me to believe you have the grounds for that?”

The reason Old Master Si allowed Ye Qingtang’s entry was not because he bought her words; his aim was to vent his frustration instead.
Even if it was not in his right to kill her, he wanted the Ye household to pay a price!

“Grandpa, since the young lady had made the effort to visit us personally, I believed she must be sufficiently prepared? And since you had already let her in, I don’t see the harm in letting her try?” Si Bai, who had remained silent at the side, suddenly voiced his opinion that was clearly in favor of Ye Qingtang.

Old Master Si did not expect his own grandson to take her side.
With his brows furrowed, he became crestfallen in an instant.

Ye Qingtang was mentally prepared for further negotiations, but little did she expect, that even without her explaining another word, the third young master had already solved her predicament.
This pleasant surprise prompted her to take another peek at the charming young man, while her eyes twinkled in amusement.

Si Bai seemed pretty kind and earnest as he returned a smile with goodwill.

He did not want his grandfather to vent his frustration on such a young and innocent girl, especially with him as the cause.

“Preposterous!” Old Master Si voiced his dissent.

Si Bai grinned and shook his head, but before he could speak his mind, Ye Qingtang interrupted: “Since I’m already here if I cause any mishaps, I believe Master Si may deal with me anytime? In that case, let’s say if I do get funny ideas, do you think I will still risk my own life over a joke?”
