Chapter 561: Old Madam Cai

Old Madam Cai was a transparent person.
When she heard Lian Fang Zhou’s words, her heart broke and she sighed: “Grandmother was confused, I only took this as a trivial matter.
I didn’t think of the deeper implications and almost hurt you!”

Gritting her teeth, she said bitterly: “It’s all a good thing your aunt made up! I’m old and haven’t been as active as before.
Otherwise, she would not have been allowed to teach my grandson so badly! Send Shun’er back tomorrow.
When I go back, I won’t let your aunt off!”

Lian Fang Zhou and Old Madam Cai both knew that Madam Jiang must have said something to Liu Shun.
That woman was so ruthless, probing step by step!

If Lian Fang Zhou made a decision for Liu Shun or just laughed it off and ignored it, Madam Jiang could have used it to make a big show.

It was precisely because of this that Lian Fang Zhou decided to send Liu Shun home the next day, to send a warning to Madam Jiang.

“Thank you, grandmother! It’s a good thing you love us!” Lian Fang Zhou laughed.

Old Madam Cai sighed: “Silly girl, I never got to say goodbye to your mother.
You are the only ones left.
I can’t help you much but I can at least not make trouble for you! Well, after all, grandmother is really old.
If I was still young, that Madam Jiang…”

“Don’t worry too much.” Lian Fang Zhou hurriedly said softly.
“Although my mother is gone, you are our grandmother.
We are a family and we will take care of you for our mother’s filial piety.”

“You are good children.” Old Madam Cai said, her eyes moist and her heart sour.
Ever since the death of her daughter and son-in-law, these children had become more and more sensible.

Thinking about it, of course they could not stay ignorant.
The pillars of their family were lost, they could only force themselves to grow up!

Thinking of this, Old Madam Cai felt even more sad.

If there was ever a time she was tempted to as Lian Fang Zhou to look after her grandsons in the future, she must never give in, no matter what.

Seeing her attitude, Lian Fang Zhou sighed softly: “Grandmother, you have seen that I am willing to take care of everyone in the village.
Is it possible that I would not take care of my relatives? What did my uncle look like yesterday? Did you see it? Not all of my relatives are like this, I will take care of them if they take care of me!”

After hearing this, Old Madam Cai’s eyes lit up and she quickly said: “You are right, Fang Zhou! Your eldest maternal cousin is a good person.
Could you, could you arrange some work for him? Your uncle and aunt, well, I will go back and have a good talk with them! I will correct it…” She sighed.
“Grandmother knows they are too much! But they are my children and grandchildren after all.
If they can change, grandmother hopes that you can help them.
If you can’t, then there is nothing you can do! It’s just because they don’t have the luck.”

Lian Fang Zhou nodded, smiling.
“Alright, after you go back in a few days, I will ask my eldest maternal cousin to come over.
As for my aunt and the others, if they can correct their mistakes, I will naturally help! After all, they are also the relatives of my mother.”

“Fang Zhou, you are such a good girl, ah!” Old Madam Cai blinked wetly, sighing.
“If your parents were still here, they would be so proud to see you all so successful.
It’s a pity that they were not blessed!”

Lian Fang Zhou forced a smile and hurriedly changed the subject.
Old Madam Cai just though that she was sad from thinking about her father and mother, so she didn’t mention this again.

How could she know that Lian Fang Zhou was actually feeling guilty? If the parents of this body hadn’t died, surely she wouldn’t have been reborn in Lian Fang Zhou’s body!

Later, Liu An came to Dafang village.
Lian Fang Zhou did not go out to see him but sent him directly to the oil mill with Steward Qin to introduce him to Li San He.
After discussing what areas needed people and what his skills were, they arranged a job for him.

Liu An was not picky and obeyed the arrangement honestly.
After half a year, he heard Li San He say that he was not bad and asked Li San He to take him by his side and train him so he could work independently in the future.

As for Madam Jiang, Old Madam Cai said good bye to Lian Fang Zhou and went home.
After Madam Jian heard of everything that happened to the Qiao family, she immediately came to her senses.

Begging Old Madam Cai to speak to Lian Fang Zhou, she joined the cotton workshop honestly and finally got a job as a small manager.
The Lian family did not treat her badly.

However, Liu Gu Zi, who was too lazy to work, stayed home.

In the blink of an eye, it was the night before the wedding.
After some discussion, it was decided that Lian Fang Zhou would stay the night at the compound and the bridal sedan chair would welcome her back to her house.

In fact, according to Lian Fang Zhou, there was no need to bother at all.
She had her own room, she could just got out to pay respects to Ah Jian.

Third Aunt and Aunt Zhang immediately disagreed! How could the bride and groom sleep in the same yard before their wedding?

Traditionally, after getting engaged, they could not live in the same yard or meet each other but these two were in a special situation.
The countryside was also not as particular and the Lian family wasn’t the same as they used to be.
Everyone turned a blind eye.

Third Aunt and the others sent Lian Fang Zhou to the compound.
Su Jin, Hong Hua, Zhang Xiu’er, and the other women came forward to greet them, talking and laughing.
Red lanterns, red silk flowers, and couplets with red double-happiness characters were everywhere.
The couplets had the meaning of ‘growing old together’, ‘a match made in heaven’, and other blessings.
The bright red color was very beautiful, making everything look very festive.

Although she would only stay one night, because it was a wedding, they paid special attention to the room.
Everything was new and the colors were mainly red.
When Lian Fang Zhou entered the room, she felt as if her eyes had been dyed red.

She couldn’t help but think of what Ah Jian had said to her.
‘If I fail to give you a grand wedding, Fang Zhou, I will spend my whole life making up for this shortcoming!’

His expression was full of regret and guilt but her heart was both moved and happy.

She had never thought she would marry in this life.
After all, her betrothal had been broken and her younger siblings all relied on her.
Even after they grew up, would anyone want her? Even if there was, they would not be a good thing.

Secondly, how many men in this era were not thinking of wives and concubines? She couldn’t stand it!

Though not many men in the countryside took concubines or second wives, it was because their families were poor and their finances did not allow it, not because they didn’t want to.
Lian Fang Zhou did not want to be poor her whole life but what would she do if her husband used her money to marry a concubine? Wouldn’t that just be tragic?

Furthermore, such a man would have no common ground with her and their words and deeds were all very rude and ignorant.
She didn’t want to wrong herself.

No matter how she had thought about it, she had felt that marriage was just impossible.

She hadn’t expected that not only would she get married, she would get married so quickly!

Compared to this nice surprise, she didn’t care about the actual wedding at all.

She was just happy it wasn’t too cumbersome, otherwise she would be annoyed to death!

The women stayed and talked and laughed with her for a long time.
Seeing the moon in the sky, they left with a smile and let her have a good rest.

When Lian Fang Zhou closed the door and lay on the bed, all their jokes and laughter still seemed to ring in her ears.
Thinking about Ah Jian, her heart couldn’t help but jump violently.
