Our Dawn

3.) New Power

Covered in dust and blood his battle suit wasn a pretty site to look at. Thankfully his psychic swords couldn get dirty, which was his only consolation since he didn have to clean them after every battle like he did his battle suit.

They were on an untitled planet, one that hasn formally made an appeal to the Universes, which was the name of the Group that the Alliance, Federation, and Gurr Empire had. So the Gurr Empire was looking to take it unders its wing in an effort to expand its territories. When they landed it became clear that the planet was sooner or later going to become a complete lost cost. The reddish hue to the atmosphere was a tell-tale sign of the deteriorating hemisphere.

The locals coudnt communicate with his troops and didn have a written language either.

Their scaley bodys proved difficult to track down when they hid in the land, completely camouflaged. No heat signatures, no obvious way to track them, so ordinary soldiers would have a lot of trouble tracking their movements. So they had taken to on ground battles instead of Space crafts or using giant Mecha.

Although the locals couldn hide as much as before the battle still strained many soldiers, unfamiliar environments and physical exhaustion was the main concern. One bright side though was that there was no strange disease or toxic atmosphere, they could breathe normally and weren in constant danger whenever the wind changed.

Altons thought whirled through his mind, his muscles tense after such a high intensity battle. All his senses were pushed to extremes whenever he battled in ground battles. That not to say he wasn pushed to such lengths fighting in spaceships or mecha but rather those machines could help compensate for his loss in physical strength and help with calculations.

While in battles like this he could only rely on his own senses which as a human weren very good. To compensate he used his physic sense instead and although exhausting after a few battles and logs and lots of practice his control excelled. All losses were made into a minimum and he could fight for several hours without rest and still be in great condition.

The last battles had been mentaly exhausting, although that was what he was looking for, to be so exhausted that he slept like the dead. Nowadays it was harder and harder to fall asleep and stay asleep without jerking awake from a nightmare or from the expectation of some sort of attack.

His bad habit was sleeping better on a battlefield than in his own mansion. When his body was pushed to the limits he had no time for nightmares or over sensitive reactions in peaceful environments.

After reading the report while he was glad for the minimal death count on his side, the overwhelming number of soldiers who died was still higher than average. The environment was new to many and over an extended amount of time they were still adapting. The dry climate hardly provided any resources that they needed like food and water, or a safe enclosed area to set up camp.

Honestly he felt it wasn a very good planet to take over but he had a sneaking suspicion that only grew when he had seen the deep ravines in the planets crust that that planet held precious ore.

He guessed that was the reason the Emperor had sent him out here in the first place. That and the fact he hadn hidden his want to stay on the battlefield. This wasn him exactly refusing to stay behind and do desk work or deal with the empires politics, both things he did exceedingly well. But because of the whole issue with sleeping while on the Gurr Empires capital planet.

Once out of curiosity a close friend who had saved his life more than once, Serge, had asked about where he came from. While he had citizenship from the Gurr Empire he didn hide the fact that it wasn his home planet. Although most of the public didn know this, it was an open secret among the government and military people. His reply then was, according to Serge,

¨You looked at me blankly and then stared off into space for a solid minute with this lost look on your face. To me you looked like a kid who got caught doing the wrong thing.¨

Besides slapping Serge in the back of the head for asking the question he had simply answered,

¨Its probably not even on any of the Gurr empires maps and i dont think ill ever be able to return.¨

Even with an icey tone and calm face he couldn hide the longing and sad expression in his eyes, so nobody really brought the subject up anymore. The speculations didn stop though, things like, maybe it was annihilated, maybe he came from a weak planet, makye he was from an enemy plant, and so on were floating around. Not that his close friends and subordinates believed it and to him, that was what mattered.

Having such a high position often brought trouble and bad rumors we
e always floating around. Sometimes when he thought about his position he would think about the silly BL web novels he read when he was on earth.

About the protagonist who suddenly found himself on some random sci fi planet and somehow attracted the attention of a strong military person who was like ice. Whos subordinates feared him and somehow or other seemed to be even stronger than the planets ruler.

One time he compared himself to the aloof and cold love interest and found it laughable. He wondered how that love interest interacted with his troops, how those in power acted around him and the repercussions his ice cold, i don give a shit, attitude would have. If someone like that appeared, someone who ruled through fear, he wasn sure that they would be very successful.

Although he himself wasn a very friendly person and knew when to put a foot down he lived by the idea of not creating more enemies than he already had, peace was something he cherished.A bit ironic though with how much he suffered from insomnia when it was peaceful.

By now he had finished reading the battle report and sent his armor to be cleaned. With a gun by his side and a knife under his pillow he slept. In his dreams his life from before he came to the Gurr empire slipped into his dreams, bringing a faint sadness. Back on earth he was also a military commander, although his position was high it wasn as high as it was now, he also had a family. Not a lover or anything but a kind thoughtful pair of parents who lived peacefully and satisfied thanks to his care.

Although he didn have a lover he had adopted a child who he had met abroad when he was younger . The child had stubbornly stuck with him even after he revealed his identity. Eventually he took her in and the two became family. She was a bright child who even though he was often gone never complained.

He watched her grow up and helped her start her own company. In her final year of college and on his 40th birthday by some freak accident he was transported here. Even now he had no good idea why. Besides being transported here by some weird twist in time and space travel he had also regained his youth. Its not like his body went back in time or he was in someone elses body. He still had scars and battle wounds he got from being in the battlefield on earth.

Rather it was more like while adjusting to this new planet and after coming in contact with his own physic power his body had healed itself and repaired the functions that had begun to slow and break down. Once all the impurities were gone he was back to his dashing appearance as a 27 year old.

His features were all grown out and although he looked young it wasn in a pure or immature way, it was more like in older sexy masculin way. His whole body was toned and pale in color. He had reddish brown eyes that seemed to pierce through a person and made the sight of them unforgettable.

He was 6´6ft in height which may have been tall back on earth but was average height here. He had short black hair that currently was styled lazily on his head.

Although it could be considered bed head it looked like it had been purposely styled in a wild and unrestrained way. Basically he was a walking hormone dispenser, and something most races agreed was handsome. It wasn odd for people to compare themselves or other popular stars and public figures to him, when it first started Serge and Norris, two of his closest friends had a good long laugh.

But he was grateful for his appearance and young body, after all humans back on Earth aged quickly. Here it wasnt odd for people to live up to 300 to somewhere in 400 years old. Their appearances did not change much either, you would keep your appearance from around the late 20ś to somewhere around 200 years old.

After that you would age until you appeared to be in your later 30ś and 40ś until around 300 years old.

From there your body would begin to deteriorate slowly, thats right even as you age your body doesn start to deteriorate unless you had special health complications or it was a charctic of your race. Most bodies began to slowly deteriorate around 320-400 years old along with your appearance the other physical changes like fradial bodies appeared. Most died before they became white haired though.

This was simply because many carried old injuries or health complications. They lived for so long that things built up over the years. Old age was somewhat that even advanced medicine could help.

It was somewhat rare for there to be people who lived into their late 400dreds. He himself was sure that hed pass before reaching 420, the old injuries were sure to come back to bite him later. Not that he cared to live that long. As a human who grew up on earth without physic power living to 100 was seen as incredibly healthy. Humans here also lived to the late 200dreds normally not as long as average Gurr citizens but that was really only because many did not know how to control their physic power.

Everyone was born with psychic power thanks to the atmosphere that the Gurr empire had, and soon it became a common trait that almost everyone had even without certain planet atmospheres to help. Humans just had a harder time harnessing that power and the other race took advantage of it.

After he became Star general he proposed several laws for the protection and education of humans and to a certain degree helped raise their standards. Soon people realized that humans were quite good at many things but this change isn widespread.

Alton wasn in a hurry, there were plenty of years ahead. By now counting his age from his home planet he was 82 years old, and his 83 birthday was just a month away. But here the calendar was different and he was considered to be 72 years old soon 73, which was rather young, considering all he had accomplished. If anything it meant he would be in power for a long long time.
