The next morning, the two went to the Adventurers’ Guild.

In the guild, which was moderately crowded with adventurers, the two looked at the requests posted on the bulletin board.

“Hmmm, I don’t see anything that looks close to what we’re looking for.”

“I agree…….”

Ataru looked at the place for a while and gave a problematic look, and Caro agreed with him, her ears drooping.

The two had come to see if there were any requests related to Holy Beasts and Spiritual Beasts, but it seemed that it was not so easy to find them.

“Well then, let’s move on.”

Ataru, intending to look around in various places, checked with the adventurers’ guild, which was the least likely.
However, since he did not intend to give up after finding out that the guild didn’t have anything, he thought of moving on to the next place immediately.

“Oh, um, …… excuse me.”

However, someone discreetly called out as they left the guild.

“Hm? Can I help you?”

They turned to see a frail-looking, bespectacled[1] guild employee.

“I’m Miran, an employee of the guild.
You seemed to have been mulling over the requests for a while now, is there something wrong…..?”

The two of them looking at the request board earnestly was a matter of concern to the guild employee, and she called out to confirm this.
She was oozing an air of worry as if they had done something wrong.

“Hm? Ah, that’s what you mean.
……No, there’s nothing wrong with that.
It’s just that it took me a little while to go through all the requests to see if I could find something that would fit what we were looking for.”

Normally, they would check requests by rank or reward, but in their case, they were looking for something that was going to cost a bit more time to look for the information that they were looking for.
As it turned out, this made it look a little different viewed by others.

“I see, is that so? Oh, no, you see my senior at the counter over there? Please, don’t look at him! ……he will know that I am teaching you.”

Ataru and Caro tried to shift their gaze to see the faces of the senior mentioned but were stopped by Miran, who looked desperate.

“Please be careful already! It’s okay though since they don’t seem to have noticed you.
……So, what kind of request were you two looking for?”

She glanced over and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that her senior and others had not noticed her, and it seemed that she was still planning to continue this conversation.

“I was wondering if you had any requests regarding rare demons, animals, or anything like that …….”

Ataru, who thought it would be a bad idea to refer directly to sacred beasts and spiritual beasts, answered vaguely, but the gleam in her eyes made him wonder if he had made a mistake in his response.
He gulped, feeling nervous inside.

“No, it’s okay, since there wasn’t any…….”

“I see! I’ll go check it out!”

Ataru thought it would be better to quickly cut this short and was about to leave the place, but Miran interrupted him, declaring that she would look, and rushed quickly to get behind the counter.

“Ah, there she goes.
What to do, what to do……?”

“Well, it seems like she’s doing it out of the goodness of her heart, so let’s wait a bit, shall we?”

Ataru looked troubled by her straightforward attitude once she made up her mind, but Caro seemed to think something of her, and she was going to wait for Miran.

“If Caro says so, then let’s wait and see.”

“Yes!”

Ataru noticed Caro and decided to wait.
Caro was glad that Ataru respected her opinion in this way.

The two waited for a while and then looked at the request again.
Earlier, they were just looking to gather information, but now they are looking at the requests from a different perspective, to see if there is a request that suits them.
This time, they looked at it from a different perspective.

After they had been doing that for a while, Miran came back with a mess of documents in a hurry.

“Ha ha ha …… Oh, thank you for your patience! I’ve gathered all the information I can think of on my end.
It’s a little noisy in here, so let’s go outside.
Don’t worry, I have permission to take this stuff out!”

Ataru and Caro were still overwhelmed by Miran, who was talking on her own, but they could not leave her alone, so they looked at each other once and then decided to follow behind her.

When they caught up with Miran, who had left first, she saw them and continued the conversation.

“I have brought some special information with me, so let’s go into a restaurant with a private room.”

“……Okay, I’ll at least hear what you have to say.”

Ataru decided to do as she said because she had a serious expression on her face, a complete change from her initial timid mood.

Miran’s steps were steady as she went on and on, and eventually, they arrived at a restaurant, where they entered.

“I’d like a private room, please.”

“Yes, this way, please.”

She and the waiter seemed to be accustomed to the situation, and soon they were led to a private room in the back of the restaurant.

Both Ataru and Caro tilted their heads at this.
From what they had seen at the guild, Miran seemed to be a lowly junior staff member who lacked confidence, but now she was imposing and appeared to be somewhat confident in her behavior.

“……Caro.”

“Yes.”

The two of them shared that sense of discomfort alone.
They were a little wary of what was to come.

“This room is for you.”

“Thank you, I would like refreshments for us all …… yes, please, some tea and fruit juices.”

The waitress who had received the order nodded quietly and went back down.

“Now, please have a seat, both of you.”

Ataru and Caro each sat down on a chair as prompted.

“So, what’s this all about?”

Ataru’s first question was of doubt.
Because by this point, he was already feeling uncomfortable.

“What do you mean, what do I want to talk to you two about? Is that what you mean? Or is it ……?”

“No, first of all, can you tell me who you are?”

This was Ataru’s biggest question.
The woman sitting in front of him wore a relaxed and calm atmosphere and her eyes, which were looking at Ataru and Caro, were calm yet seamless.

“After all, you understood, didn’t you? I told you earlier that I am Miran, an employee of the guild.”

Ataru had heard this earlier and as he was about to open his mouth to say so, but was stopped by Miran’s hand.

“I’m a guild official.
I am an employee of the guild, but I am not just a mere employee …….
I’m Miran, the Guild Master, in case you’re wondering.”

Hearing this, Ataru was convinced of her identity, while Caro, who was standing next to him, opened her mouth and looked surprised.
Caro didn’t expect her to be the guild master.

“So, what kind of business does the Guild Master, Ms.
Miran, have with us?”

Ataru’s attitude hardened into a wary one when he heard that she was the Guild Master, and his words were strong.
It was natural to assume that something was going on when she hid her true identity and went to the trouble of leaving the guild to talk to them.

“Please don’t be so defensive.
I have information that you two might want.
I may be the Guild Master, but I still went through a lot of trouble to bring it to you!”

She scowled as if frightened by Ataru’s attitude and desperately appealed with the documents to somehow change the atmosphere of the room.

“I’ve brought the information you want.” These words were enough to attract Ataru and Caro’s interest.

[1] Basically, just mean that they’re wearing glasses.

Well, I’m back again after life thoroughly fucked me over.
Here is a short timeline of what has happened since the last time:

Grandpa died. Funeral. Had to move into a new place. Moved most of our shit. Tiny ass shower. Slipped and sprained my ankle slightly.
(Much better now.) The government wanted to take my little sister away for bullshit reasons. The government took my sister away.
