Chapter 6

“William became crazy after losing his girlfriend Celine and soon became ill with a fever, which was a natural result, especially since he did not sleep well and did not eat well.”

“But the doctor who examined William could not accurately determine the disease and did not know what was wrong with him, so he could not prescribe the medicine accurately.

William’s disease was getting worse and thinner day by day,  he could not even drink water properly.

By the time Celine heard his news, she ran to him at once, but it was already too late, when Celine arrived at William’s home, it was already too late.

The doctor said that his life will not be long for this night.

Celine was so sad that she stayed with William and kept crying.”

Charlotte  found this the most interesting novel out of all the books on the shelf

“The tears falling on William’s face began to glow, their light became more and more bright.

Soon the light covered William’s entire body, and when the light disappeared, William was healed as if he had not fallen ill.”

The events that followed were like any other fairy tale, the usual ones, where after we lose each other we value our reunion more~

And that these two got to know their feelings and that they got married after the previous dramatic tears.

“…and thus William and Celine lived happily ever after.”

Charlotte closed the book with the last sentence, until the middle of the story Theo was listening with bright, excited eyes, now he was soundly asleep.

Charlotte stroked his hair and brushed it softly, and bent down to give him a gentle kiss on his forehead.

“Have sweet dreams”

‘Please forget all the horrible things you saw today in the woods and get rid of them and just have sweet dreams.’

              *****

“Did you find anything?”

“Sorry sir, we are still searching”

The Assistant Chase answered without raising his head, he had not slept for two days, his face became very pale, his cheeks became thin and there were dark circles under his eyes.

The same thing is said about  Carcel, who also did not sleep, he said while opening his eyes wide

“How far did we go in the investigation?”

“We investigated the mana gate, but it was fake…we haven’t discovered the exact location yet, and according to what the mage said, it would take a few days to figure out the formula.”

Carcel hit the desk with his fist

“Can’t the best mages in the empire do anything!”

Carcel was sitting still, though he felt like he was hanging upside down still,

“Instead, we found a person suspected of forging the mana gate.
We are now interrogating him.”

Chase said

“Huh! There is no easy way for him to spit it out!”

Carcel sneered, but it was true, so Chase couldn’t deny it, so he kept his mouth shut.

“It doesn’t matter what  you use on him to speak, as long as he tells us where Theo is!”

As long as we  find Theo

Emotions rose to Carcel’s throat as he uttered those words, Carcel clenched his fist, the scroll that was in his hand was mercilessly crumbling in his hand.

“Young master will be fine, Lord Heather is a reliable person! So he must have kept him safe.”

Chase spoke spontaneously, trying to ease Carcel’s tension.

It wasn’t just empty words.

Lord Heads was one of the five strongest knights in the Duchy of Heinst, so even in an emergency, Theo was protected.

But Chase’s words did not sooth him, but on the contrary made his troubled face harden

 Carcel said:

“That’s why I’m more worried , knowing Hades, he would have already reached out to us or left us a mark…but there’s nothing…nothing!”

Carcel’s voice, which was low, rose at the end of his words

Originally the Duke was a man of few expressions, and when questioning offenders or when dealing with Theo he kept his expressions constant most of the time.

It was a basic teaching not only to appear consistent but also to hide all your feelings as a successor to the family, yet since Theo’s disappearance the Duke has been unable to control his expression.

He knew from his mind that this was not permissible, but his heart refused to listen.

Theo is only three years old, the difference of 20 years between them.

He is still a weak and fragile child.

It was not yet clear where he was, nor the danger he faced, the more he thought about it, the higher the anger rose to the top of his head, the more his eyes were fully alert.

“I’ll see what I can do”

Chase said as he bowed deeply and left the office in silence.

Carcel buried his face in the palms of his hands and then looked at the crumpled papers on his desk

“Where the hell are you, Theo?”

It was painful as hell because he felt responsible for everything.

Half a year ago, Theo was seriously ill after his father’s death, and even for a child who did not even know the meaning of death, his father’s disappearance was a shock to him.

Fortunately, the crisis was overcome, but Theo was suffering from some minor ailments throughout his time in the capital.

Carcel decided to send Theodore to Heinst Island because he believed his capitalist life was bad for his health.

So in this county along the sea it was a good place for kids to run because of the good air and mild temperatures all year round.

Even in winter, it was much warmer than in the capital, so he rarely caught a cold.

Carcel thought Theo’s health would improve while he was staying there.

However, Carcel could not leave for the island with Theo because there was still work left in the capital.

Carcel’s plan was to send Theo to the island first, and stay to deal with urgent matters for a month.

Now, this fall, I thought I could stay in the estates until this winter and go back to the capital in the spring.

I knew everything would go smoothly, this was before Theo disappeared through his journey at the Mana Gate.

All the others arrived safely on the island, except for Theo and his companion knight, Sir Heather.

Carcel felt as if the sky was snapping when he was told that Theo had disappeared.

He was his only family, unlike other emotionally boring things.

I was worried about the safety of my only family, and I took care of him for no particular reason.

I couldn’t stand the pain I would get from my heart if it was seriously injured.

I was nervous, I was agitated.

So I tried to be perfect.
So I can protect my family no matter what happens.

But it is all  worthless if I can’t keep my promise.

I have already lost my beloved family twice.

Two years ago, his mother, the Duchess, died of illness and half a year ago, his father died in an accident.

There was nothing Carcel could do but just promise to take care of his younger brother in front of his parents’ graveyard.

But the only family left, Theo, is missing, that’s when he sent Theo alone.

If I had known that it would turn out this way, I would have followed him, leaving everything behind.

“Ugh.”

Carcel grabbed his chest with his hand in sudden pain from his left chest.

These days, I get chest pain several times a day.
That was after Theo disappeared.
The family doctor said there were no major flaws.

It was just lack of sleep.

In fact, he hasn’t closed his eyes for the past four days.

This is because he couldn’t sleep.
he was so restless.

However, when he slept for a while, Theo, who was constantly covered in blood, came out of his dream and woke up moaning.

It was certainly just a dream, but Theo’s face, dying without closing his eyes, was still vivid in front of him, just imagining was frightening.

The pain worsened when he thought about it.

Cold sweat formed on his forehead.

“Sire!”

Then, without warning, the door opened and Chase went back inside.

He found Carcel breathing hard with a frown on his face.

“Are you okay ? Have you been having chest pain again? Should I call a doctor?”

“Everything is fine.
What do you have ? “

Carcel regained his senses, straightening his disfigured face.

Chase, his loyal assistant, would never have opened the door without knocking.

If he came in a hurry, it means that there is progress in the investigation.

In fact, something was in Chase’s hand.

“Look at this now”

Chase gave Carcel a letter, a small pouch and a knife.

Carcel checked the seal on the letter.

A group of grass leaves has several small leaves compared to the Heinst family crest, which symbolizes the brave lion.

It was a crest he had never seen before, so he didn’t think he was a big capital aristocrat.

Perhaps a peasant aristocrat settled in the countryside.

Thinking that it might be something about Theo, Carcel hurriedly opened the letter.

[His Excellency Duke Heinst.

I am Charlotte Lannia, daughter of Baron Lannia in the southern part of the Empire.

I hope you will not even ignore the family inscription as a letter

from a noble in a village, I have something important to tell you,

so I took my liberty to hold the pen….
