When classes were finished, I headed toward the library with Viola. We invited Aster and Amelia, but they refused our offer. They said that they needed to train for the upcoming battle simulation in a few days. I should probably train too.

It was surprisingly quiet when we got to the library. I mean I didn expect much but damn this is just sad. There were only around eight to nine people in the library and most of them were far apart.

”Well then, lets find a place to study, ” I said, looking at the girl beside me.

Viola nodded and so we looked around for a place to sit. It may be spacious and there are a lot of free spots, but I still don want to be out in the open. Even more so since people will just start rumors about me and Viola. Hell, theres even one circling already.

”So, where shall we start? ”

”Hm… ”

And so, our little study session began. Surprisingly, I was about to learn easily when Viola taught me. Damn, I guess I just really suck at understanding history on my own.

”You learn pretty fast… ” Viola said, genuinely shocked at my learning speed.

”Ahaha, what can I say? Its just part of my constitution. ” I chuckled. It was true though, this was part of who I was made to be.

We continued our study session until Violas phone rang. She answered it and due to my enhanced hearing, I heard the voice of a man. I know eavesdropping isn good but with my hearing, I can avoid it.

By the sounds of it, it was her Dad. He was asking her why she hasn come home yet and was worried. I guess she also wanted to walk back home. However, what she said next really made my eyes widen.

-3rd Person POV-

”Hey, Dad? ” Viola said to the man on the other side of the phone.

”Yes sweetie? ” the man questioned.

”Would you mind if a man escorted me home? ”

”…I wouldn mind, but I need to talk to him when I see him. ” Unbeknownst to the girl, her dad was smiling on the other side of the phone. It was rare for his daughter to have a male friend after all. The only one that was nice to Viola without any ulterior motives was Aster. He expected this of the child of his best friend though.

”Thanks, dad! ” Viola said, genuinely happy.

”Anything for you sweetie. ”

Hikari just smiled, hearing the conversation to the fullest due to his enhanced hearing. He didn know why Viola was this trusting of him already though. This was the same situation with Melania too all those months ago. He fondly remembers that moment.

Melania had a face of frustration, but as soon as she saw Hikari for the first time, her expression softened. Hikari doesn know why, but seeing someone else other than his friends that he failed to save has that expression put him at ease.

Looking back at Viola, he also had this sense of ease. Not just her, but the other three he met earlier as well. Although, he still needs to keep his guard up. He needs to at all times. He was frustrated over this fact.

”Well then, lets finish this up! ” Viola said as she set her phone down. Hikari nodded and began teaching her again.

-Timeskip and back to Hikari POV again-

I was walking Viola back to her home. It wasn that late since the sky was just about to start turning an orange hue. Mhm, I could make it back home with enough time to cook dinner for me and Melania when she comes home.

While we were walking, Viola struck up a conversation, asking me something that I hoped she wouldn .

”Hey, Hikari. What was your life before you went to Allarie Academy? ”(A/N: I forgot to give the name of the school so here ya go.)

”Lets just say, it wasn filled with rainbows. ” I decided to be vague. It wasn the time yet for me to tell her my story after all.

”I see… ” Viola sounded disappointed.

I don know why, but seeing her like that made something within me hurt a bit. So I decided to do something dumb. I reached out and held her hand, surprising her in the process.

”Don worry, Ill tell you about my past soon. Lets just give it some time, okay? ” I smiled at her, hoping to see her smile back.

And luckily, she did.

”Mhm! ” There it is, that smile that warms my heart.

The rest of our walk continued like that, our hands still intertwined all the while. This was comfortable for me…

When we arrived in front of a mansion, Viola nodded to the guard. The guard opened the door as he nodded at Viola and raised an eyebrow at me. I only nodded to the guard, not knowing what to do, and entered with Viola.

Ive gotta say, this house was pretty much expected with Violas Armament. It was high quality. When I looked at the mansion doors, I saw a man with pitch-black hair and aqua blue eyes.

”Hey, dad! ” Viola waved to the man as we got near. So thats her dad, can say I didn see the similarities.

”Hi sweetie, ” he smiled softly and then looked at me. ”Is this the man you were talking about? ”

”Mhm! Dad, meet Hikari. Hikari, meet my dad, Eros Belrose. ”

I let go of Violas hand and held it out to her dad with a smile. ”Nice to meet you, sir. Im Hikari Viator. ”

”Humu, its nice to meet you too. ” He took my hand and shook it. I could feel his grip was strong, and so I tightened mine in turn. We both smiled at each other, the girl beside us getting confused.

After a few seconds, we let go of the handshake. I saw him hold his hand and even if he didn show it, I knew that he was in pain. Whoops, I guess that was too much force. I mouthed sorry to him and he seemed to understand as he smiled warmly.

”Please, come in. I would like to talk with you. ”

Welp, here we go to death. Woohoo!

-3rd POV-

”So, what exactly do you want from my daughter? Her body? The power she holds? Or money? ” asked Eros.

”Wait, wait! We just met today so this will take some time! ” Hikari raised both of his hands in defense. ”…But the answers to your questions are none. I don want any of that. I want something genuine because a relationship with a benefit doesn sound right to me. ”

Eros widened his eyes before smiling. This is the first time someone said that. All the other men who tried to court Viola this year were just after her body, her power, her money, or sometimes all three.

Seriously, why can she just find a nice person? Thats what Eros always thought before this.

”Alright then, what do you think of my daughter? ”

”I said Ive only met her this day… but if Im being honest, shes a good girl. Haha, an honest one too. Shes fun to be around with… ” He kept going on and on.

Eros smiled warmly once more. ”Mhm, I approve of you! ”

Today was… hectic to say the least.

On my way home, I recalled all the events that happened today and I couldn help but smile. Thats when I remembered something.

”Shit, I still need to cook dinner. ”

With that thought in mind, I looked around, and when I saw that I was in the clear. I jumped way high up to one of the buildings and began hopping from one building to another. What I didn notice though was that as I was jumping from one building to another, my eyes started to glow along with glowing red highlights appearing on my hair.

I arrived at my shared apartment with Melania and went inside. Good, she still isn home. I went to my room and changed my clothing to a more casual one. Once I was finished changing, I went to the kitchen and began looking at the fridge to see what I could cook.

”Hm… maybe curry will suffice. ”

With that decision made, I took out the ingredients and began cooking. After washing my hands of course. While I was cooking, I heard the door open. I didn need to look at who it was when I heard a tired sigh.

”Haah… Hikariiii~ ”

”Hai hai, welcome home, Mela. ”

I could hear her giggle as her footsteps got near. I looked towards the living room, since you can see the kitchen from the living room, and smiled when I saw her. Melania was a gorgeous woman. She had brown hair and golden eyes that I was entranced in back then and even until now. She was a bit taller than me, standing at 180 cm and damn did she have a curvy figure.

”Freshen up, dinner will be ready in a bit. ”

”Okie. ”

Haah… shes different whenever shes home. She acts all serious whenever shes at work or whenever shes with other people but acts like a child when shes alone with me. It wasn like this the first time I started living with her, but I like this more. Heh, got yall curiosity piqued on my backstory didn I?

After around 20 minutes, I finished cooking. Mela was already in the living room, watching TV while wearing more casual clothing. And what I mean by casual was that she was only wearing an oversized t-shirt and shorts. Of course, she wore underwear beneath that… I hope so.

”Wait a second… is that my shirt? ” I asked as I placed a plate at the table.

”Yeh~ ”

I sighed and just smiled ”Anyways, dinners ready. ”

”Ohh! ” She walked to the table and started drooling when she saw the food on the table. ”Curry! ”

She sat down and started eating happily. I really can fathom how a girl like her can also be so cold and serious. I sat down and began eating too.

”How was work? ” I asked, intending to make small talk.

”It was awful. The amount of paperwork I needed to do this time was way more than normal. ” She sighs but then looks at me seriously. I couldn help but shiver a bit. ”Especially the paperwork for you. ”

”Ahaha, it can be helped now, can it? ”

”Haah… you
e right. You still need to make up for it though. ”

”Oh? How so? ”

She spreads her arms and looks at me with a smile. ”My weekly dose of Hikarium. And double that since I won need to go to work tomorrow since I did the paperwork for tomorrow in advance! ”

Damn, shes really serious about doing a lot of paperwork huh?

”Hehe, alright. Ill humor you this time. ”

Haah, Im gonna get crushed by her breasts again… ehehe. Ill be lying if I said that I didn like it at all. We continued eating in silence and when we finished, I took the dishes to the sink and began washing them. Well, I was about to wash them.

”Ill wash the dishes. ” I look behind to see Melania smiling at me.

”Are you sure? You must be tired from work, right? ”

”Its fine. Besides, I can tell that you haven even bathed yet. ”

Ah, she was right about that, but what she said next made me panic a bit.

”Not to mention, you need to calm your powers down. Your eyes and hair are glowing again. ”

I immediately rushed toward the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Truth be told, she was right. How the hell did I not notice it earlier?!

I took in some deep breaths and tried calming my Celest down. If I enter ”that ” now, itll be troublesome. I need something to keep my power in check… I sighed and took off my clothes as I entered the shower.

”Hey, Hikari? ” Melania asked as she laid down beside me on the couch. We were watching a movie since both of us didn feel sleepy yet.

”Yeah? ”

”What are you going to do about your powers? Are you going to try and control it or not? ”

”What kind of question is that? Of course, Im going to try and master it. All I need is something to keep myself in check. ”

”Im sure youll find something like that in the future. ”

I smiled and patted her on the head. Im really glad to have met someone like her. After that, we just continued watching the movie. It was pretty comfy and before I knew it, Melania dozed off. I smiled as she nudged closer and decided to finally call it a day.

I turned off the TV and carried Melania to my room since I still have to make it up to her. When we got to my room, I promptly put her on my bed and laid down beside her. When I did, she held tightly to me and started tearing up a bit.

”Don … leave me… ”

This part of her… Im still not used to… She began doing this more often ever since I told her I wanted to go to school. When I ask her about it, she always changes the subject. What does she mean about me leaving? Does she think that Ill leave her?

I held her tightly in my arms, all the while whispering reassuring words into her ear. Slowly but surely, I fell asleep as well.
