BETROTHED To A Monster (Teenage choices and parental decisions)

A teacher walked into the classroom. They had a few other subjects before a short break. Nina stood from her seat and walked out of the classroom.

” Hey, are you Royale? Oh did you create that group?…is that your nickname?…. you
e so gorgeous…. can you join our group… ” They kept throwing questions as she left the classroom. These questions annoyed Nina, she increased her walking pace till they could not catch up with her. She had no idea where she was going until she noticed there was no one around her.

She lessened her pace when she heard the notes of a piano coming from an unknown room. She trailed the sound slowly and attentively till she found herself in a room filled with the aura of Melody. Ahead of her she could see someone playing on the piano with his eyes closed. He was a true definition of the word handsome . As he sang, his voice filled the atmosphere with gentleness and Melody, the notes from the piano were soft, everything about him was beauty and gentleness.

Nina watched him in ecstasy until she blinked hard and realized shes been so lost that he had stop playing the piano and now she was staring eye to eye with him. They both stared at each other for a while before she could find her words.

” Oh Im sorry, Im just gonna leave ” she said and turned to leave.

” You don have to leave, its okay ” he replied abruptly and Nina turned to face him.

” Im Andrew and you are…. ”

” Nina, Im Nina Branks ” Nina answered and they exchanged handshakes. Nina sat next to him.

” You did great, Ive never heard such a wonderful piece before. You
e amazing ” Nina praised with a smile.

” Thank you, I composed it. Didn know it was good enough to warrant such praises ” Andrew replied shyly.

” Really? If that was your song you just sang, then Im your number one fan ” Nina remarked, making Andrew smile.

” I love music ” Andrew simply stated.

” Me too, I really love music ” Nina added enthusiastically. She was glad she found someone. Someone amiable, someone who shares the same passion as she, really amazing.

” Thats nice ” Andrew said.

Nina played softly on the piano.

They ended the song and turned to look at each other in astonishment. Nina burst out in laughter and so did Andrew.

” That was totally amazing, I can believe we just did that ” she said, still laughing.

”I felt I was outta this world, your voice, its so magical ” Andrew complimented.

” Really? Thanks ” Nina blushed.

”What inspires you to sing ”? Andrew asked.

” Theophilus Parker, hes young and talented. Although hes young, he has achieved so much, that inspires me. you know thats his song we just sang. Its titled paradise, are you also a huge fan? ” Nina asked.

” I like his songs ” Andrew simply replied.

” I wish I could meet him, it would be a dream come true ” Nina accentuated.

” I hope that when you meet him, youll see the inspiration ” Andrew stood up and Nina joined him.

” What grade are you ”? Andrew asked.

” Grade 11, you… ”?

” Im in grade 12 ” Andrew replied.

” Its break over ” Nina said.

” Bye ” she bade him as she turned to leave.

” Bye, it was nice meeting you ” Andrew replied. Nina smiled and turned over to have a perfect view of him. ” It was nice meeting you too ” she finally said and left the room.

Everything that transpired between them still played in Ninas head during class and sometimes she smiled at the thought of some of their conversations, she felt exhilarant throughout the day till school was over.

On her way outside, Jin caught up with her. ” Oh, so you
e heading home ”? He asked.

” Yeah, I am. Are you gonna sleep at school ”? Nina replied sarcastically, almost laughing and continued walking. Jin was greatly challenged by Ninas non- challant attitude towards him. He remembered the bet he made with his friends and persisted further to talk to her.

” How did you feel in school, today being your first day ”? Jin asked.

” Great, I gotta go. Bye ” Nina finally said as her body guard came to escort her to her car.

” Good day princess ” Kennedy greeted.

” Good day Kennedy, lets go ” she said as they both walked to the car.

” Bye ” Jin hollered.

” Bye ” Nina waved and entered her car.

Jin watched as Ninas car drove off, he stood transfixed to the spot.

He had given up the game.
