Jin Enxi was shocked.
She actually heard a hint of fear and reluctance from Shen Qinglan’s words.
Her heart ached slightly, wanting to go up to Shen Qinglan and comfort her, but she could not find the right words to comfort her.

They were all a bunch of people living in hell.

“Ann, no matter what, you have us in the end.” Jin Enxi spoke.

Shen Qinglan didn’t say anything and smiled.

After saying goodbye to Jin Enxi, Shen Qinglan went back to her dorm room.

As soon as she returned to her dorm room, Yu Xiaoxuan hurriedly said, “Qinglan, you’re back.
Do you know, the person who hacked you was a boy from the Computer Department? His name is Zhao Dong, and now he’s been punished with a serious warning.
The announcement has been posted.”

Only then did Shen Qinglan remember that she had sent an email to the principal before she left.
Already knowing the outcome, Shen Qinglan wasn’t surprised at all.

“You already knew about it?” Fang Tong asked.

Shen Qinglan nodded, “I went to look for him.”

At this time, Wu Qian spoke up, “Qinglan, congratulations.”

The three of them looked at her baffled.
Why was she congratulating her?

“Isn’t it something to celebrate when things are cleared up?” Wu Qian explained.

Yu Xiaoxuan spoke up, “This was originally a deliberate attempt by someone to frame Qinglan.
What’s there to congratulate? This kind of person should be violently beaten.”

Wu Qian’s face stiffened, “Those photos must have been photoshopped by him, right?”

Yu Xiaoxuan replied, “No it’s not.
We all know those people.
They are just Qinglan’s friends, and they sent Qinglan back by the way.
We don’t know where he got the photos from, so he dared to talk nonsense.”

Fang Tong wanted to stop her.
She glanced at Yu Xiaoxuan and secretly tugged the corner of Yu Xiaoxuan’s clothes signaling her to shut up.

When Yu Xiaoxuan reacted, Wu Qian asked another question about the identities of those people, resulting in both Yu Xiaoxuan and Fang Tong being silent.
Wu Qian’s eyes darkened, knowing that they were reluctant to speak.
So she just smiled and stayed quiet.

Shen Qinglan took a shower and laid down on the bed, closing her eyes to sleep.
Although an hour had passed, Shen Qinglan hadn’t fallen asleep.

Seeing Jin Enxi today was truly unexpected for her.

Scenes of the past floated to her mind.
Shen Qinglan’s eyes were clear and cold, not knowing what to think.

She didn’t know how long it took for her to fall asleep.

She seemed to have had a dream; a long, seemingly distant yet close dream.

She dreamed of the time when she was five years old.
About a few days before her birthday, she was out with her mom and she looked at the cotton candy that was being sold on the side of the road.
She stopped without realizing and in a flash, her mom was gone.

She tried to find her mom, but there were too many people and no matter how hard she looked, she couldn’t find her mom.
She was crying because she was scared, and then came a gaunt face man who said he would help her find her mom.

She didn’t like the man.
So, she refused to go with him and tried to run.
But the man pulled out a handkerchief and covered her mouth, and then she fell asleep.

When she woke up again, she was in a dark room where there were several children like her, both boys and girls.

Her fear was somewhat lessened by the sight of her peers, and she carefully surveyed her surroundings.
The room was so small; it didn’t even have a bed, and the floor was covered with straw on which they were sitting.

There were seven children with her; three girls and four boys.
They seemed to have come much earlier than her.
They were all frightened, but they didn’t cry.

Soon the door of the room was opened and a woman walked in, who had a few steamed buns in her hand, “Eat.” she said.

Throwing the steamed buns aside, she walked out again, not forgetting to lock the door.

Those children waited for that woman to leave, then ran over and grabbed the steamed buns.
Shen Qinglan did not move.

A boy came over and handed her a steamed bun, “Eat it.
If you don’t, you’ll starve to death.”

Shen Qinglan didn’t take it.
She just looked at the boy but didn’t speak.

The boy didn’t persuade her either.
He just stuffed the steamed bun into his arms and sat down next to her, nibbling on his own piece of steamed bun.

The other kids each grabbed a steamed bun and sat down to the side to eat it in silence.

“Where is this place?” Shen Qinglan spoke softly.
A small child was suddenly brought to an unfamiliar environment and her voice was unable to conceal her fear.

The boy looked at her, “We don’t know.
You were also kidnapped, right?”

Shen Qinglan thought about it and nodded.

“So were we.
They are human traffickers, they specialize in abducting children.
You know human traffickers?”

Shen Qinglan nodded.
Although she was young, she had heard her grandfather talk to her about this word and knew that human traffickers were bad people.

The boy continued, “They take small children and sell them to those who don’t have children, before there were several children here, two days ago they had someone come and take them away.
I overheard them talking about how they were going to sell them to the mountains.”

“Have you been here long?” Shen Qinglan spoke softly.

The boy took a bite of steamed bread, “It’s not been very long, about a month.
She,”
the boy pointed to a girl sitting in the corner, “She’s been here for a long time.
I heard that she’s been here for half a year.
Since she’s a girl, no one wants her.
She’s been staying here.”

Shen Qinglan looked at the girl who was about eight or nine years old, very thin, probably because of chronic malnutrition.
Her face was very yellow, she looked wooden.
She didn’t react when she heard their words.
She just lowered her head and nibbled on the steamed bun.

“Where will they sell us to?”

The boy shook his head, “I don’t know.
I just heard it would be so far away that we’d never be able to find home that far.
Where does your family live?”

“My family lives in a big courtyard where there are many soldier brothers.
My dad is a soldier.”
Shen Qinglan chatted with the boy.
Her heart didn’t have the nervousness of just waking up, and her eyes shone when she talked about her dad.

“Your daddy is a soldier.” The boy exclaimed for a while.
Little children have an innate sense of admiration for soldiers.

Shen Qinglan nodded her head proudly, “My dad is awesome, so tall.
He will ride big horses for me, buy me all kinds of delicious food, and play games with me, it’s great.
But…”
her voice trailed off, “I’ll never see my dad again now.”

She cried and the boy panicked.
His hands were busy wiping her tears, “Don’t cry, I will protect you, I will help you escape.
Then you can go to the police uncle.
The police uncle will send you home.”

Shen Qinglan stopped her tears and looked at the boy with tears in her eyes, “Really?”

The boy nodded affirmatively, “Really, I’ll definitely help you.”

Shen Qinglan broke into a smile, touched her little belly and said pitifully, “I’m hungry.”

The boy handed her the steamed buns, “Eat.”

Shen Qinglan took a bite of the steamed bun.
It was hard and not delicious at all.
As soon as she took a bite, she wanted to spit it out but the boy was busy covering her mouth.

“You have to eat even if it’s not delicious.
Otherwise they won’t give you food.
You’ll starve to death, and then you won’t be able to see your father.”

Shen Qinglan nodded her head.
In the end, she didn’t spit out the steamed bun, but finished eating the hard steamed bun one bite at a time.
