The kitchen is synonymous with cooking, baking, eating, and simply hanging out. It is known as the heart of the home, thus warranting it to be cozy and warm for family and friends to gather. It is vital that the kitchen have adequate lighting, making it bright and inviting. Consider what is in your kitchen. Countertops, cabinets, an island, stoves and ovens, sinks, and a table are among the common essentials in a kitchen. Each of them needs the right lighting fixture because multiple tasks are done in these areas.

Like any other room, there are three key ingredients for kitchen lighting namely ambient or general, task and accent lighting. Ambient lighting provides the overall lighting in the kitchen. They may provide sufficient light, but some areas need more light due to shadowed spots. Normally, sharp utensils such as knives are used for slicing and dicing. If there are dark spots in the kitchen, you might hurt yourself. Other activities require adequate lighting and task lighting is added to focus on these areas to eliminate shadows or dim areas. Most of the time, kitchens have decors or artworks to beautify the space. To highlight these areas or artworks, accent lighting and chandelier is placed.
